Looking for some of the best barbecue around? Here at Myrtle Beach on the Cheap, we’ve come up with a pretty tasty gathering of the best BBQ at the beach.
How We Came Up With our Best BBQ At The Beach Roundup
First, we looked at establishments that meet all the “friendly” requirements, family, kid and most important, budget-friendly.
Second, we gathered information from websites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor.
Third, we looked at past winners of any local awards such as “Best of the Beach”
Fourth, as we read reviews, some of things we looked for were..”we will be back”, “our favorite place when we visit Myrtle Beach”, “awesome prices”, “this place is a must”. Out of towner reviews carried more weight.

Barbecue Styles
There are many “styles” of barbecue, here at the beach you’ll find Carolina, Memphis, Texas and Kansas City styles. All restaurants serve both pork and beef brisket barbecues as well as barbecue chicken. Choices include a barbecue plate or barbecue sandwich, with all the fixins.
Whatever style of barbecue you choose, you can bet it was cooked in a “smoker”. Those large barrel looking things with chimney pipes on the top you always see outside a good BBQ place. Smoking barbecue correctly takes patience and skill and is usually passed down from generation to generation. Some of the best barbecue restaurants are the mom and pop, hole in the wall places. Don’t let outside appearance deceive you.
Barbecue Sauces
One of the things you’ll notice at a barbecue restaurant are the numerous bottles of barbecue sauces at your table. Some are tangy, some are sweet, some are vinegar based, some are mustard or tomato based. If you have any questions, ask your server or just taste test them all until you find the one that suits your taste buds. Carolina Gold, a mustard base sauce, is one the most popular barbecue sauce in these parts.
We’ve included business hours in this roundup, but please call ahead just to make sure your chosen restaurant is open. We have not listed prices as they may change, but rest assured the BBQ places in and around Myrtle Beach wont break the bank.
