On Friday and Saturday, April 7-8, 2017, Grand 14 Cinema at The Market Common is hosting the Champion Autism Network (CAN) Film Festival. Tickets are $8.50 per shorts pass or feature length film for adults; $7 for seniors, teachers, students.
This event is designed to educate people about autism, it’s impact on the family unit and the lifelong challenges that autism presents.
Here’s the schedule:
Friday, April 7
- 7:00 p.m.: David Matthews, central figure in feature film “Aspie Seeks Love,” discusses life undiagnosed on the Spectrum, his challenges and missed opportunities. Matthews was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at age 41. “Aspie Seeks Love” immediately follows.
Saturday, April 8
- 10 a.m.: Feature-length film “The Family Next Door.”
- 11:45 a.m.: Q&A and lunch with Barry Reese, director of “The Family Next Door,” and CAN Parent Ambassadors; mixer with CAN families and film attendees.
- 1:30 p.m.: Short films “Keep Change,” “I Believe,” and “Circles.”
- 2:15 p.m.: Q&A with Jesse Cramer, Circles Director, and George Barham, an actor on the spectrum who plays Cam.
