On Saturday and Sunday, December 16-17, 2017, the Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre will be performing The Nutcracker in the Conway High School Auditorium. Tickets are $20 in advance for adults/$25 at the door; $18 in advance for seniors (62+)/$25 at the door; $10 for kids (3-12).
Here’s a synopsis of the show from the Coastal Youth Ballet website:
“Over the years, CYBT’s production of The Nutcracker has entertained thousands and thousands of children and grown-ups. There are so many reasons to come see The Nutcracker: the beautiful dancing, the colorful costumes, the lavish sets, the growing Christmas tree, the dancing mechanical dolls, and Mother Ginger!
The libretto is adapted from E.T. A. Hoffmann’s classic story of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The iconic music is by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with choreography and staging by CYBT Artistic Directors Liza Mata and Karen Mata after that of Marius Petipa’s and Lev Ivanov’s ballet.
All performances are brought to life by a cast of seventy talented young artists, which includes the Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre company members, together with students from Coastal Dance Centre, CYBT’s training school, and volunteer community members.
Experience the magic first hand as you are transported to an exciting adventure through dance!”
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Conway High School is located at 2301 Church Street in Conway, South Carolina.
