Thanks to Teresa at Miami FL on the Cheap for the following Black Friday guest post:
Remember the old days of Black Friday shopping?
You’d wait for the ads to come out in the Thanksgiving Day newspaper and line up at the store before dawn Friday morning to score one of the deeply discounted “door busters.”
That was your mother’s Black Friday. Along with the rest of shopping, Black Friday has changed.
Ads are leaked days or weeks ahead of time, and shopping online, either all weekend or Cyber Monday, is now part of the experience.
Rather than try to analyze all the deals ourselves, we’re going to point you to a few of the masters:
- DealNews.com: This site has the motto “Where every day is Black Friday,” and it’s a good source for bargains throughout the year. You can find leaked ads and advice on the Deal News Black Friday page.
- Black Friday@gottadeal.com: This site also has links to leaked ads, as well as advice, a price comparison chart and free apps for Android and Apple iOS devices.
- MSN’s Smart Spending: This blog specializes in personal finance advice. MSN’s Melinda Fulmer analyzes the Black Friday offerings from the various chain stores to find out which “deals” are really good deals.
- Amazon.com has been offering deals in its Countdown to Black Friday and Cyber Monday and will kick off Black Friday Deals Week on Monday, Nov. 21.
