History buffs, this is for you! Join Lloyd Kaplan for a musical look at United States history, 1920-1960, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, in February at the Chapin Memorial Library in Myrtle Beach.
The educational lecture and course will link a variety of social trends to the timely songs of the era. Topics include women’s rights, the Great Depression, the impact of technology and more. Note: Songs will not be performed live and the series is for adults, ages 18 and older. Admission is free, but you need to register to attend. Bio: Lloyd Kaplan, Profossor Emeritus,Community College of Rhode Island, Music Dept. 1966-2002. CCRI Hall of Fame. M.A.T from Brown Univ.-1962. Taught in Extension Division at CCU beginning in 1995, and then with OLLI at CCU from its inception until 2020. Inducted in Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame-2018. Professional Musician from 1954-2020. Leader of his own Swing Band mid-1980s to 2020.
