This weekend, January 15-17, 2011, the Carolina African American Heritage Foundation is hosting a 3-day event in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On Saturday, a local gospel choir will perform at Mt. Olive AME Church (at 1108 Carver Street in Myrtle Beach) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are just $5 each.
On Sunday, a “day of reflection” will be held at the Sandy Grove Baptist Church (at 1008 Carver Street in Myrtle Beach) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This event is free.
On Monday, a Martin Luther King Grand Parade will begin at Chapin Park (14th Avenue North and Kings Highway) and end at the Myrtle Beach Colored School Museum and Education Center (at 900 Dunbar Street). The parade begins at 11:30 a.m.
