Now that school’s out, many parents are probably looking for ways to keep the kids entertained. Here are some ideas for FREE and cheap summer fun with kids in the Myrtle Beach area for 2018 (click on the links below for more details). FREE Beaches:
The Grand Strand has 60 miles of beautiful beaches where kids can make sand castles, ride body boards, or just play in the surf. And they’re all FREE. Keep in mind that you may have to pay for parking.
FREE Bowling:
All summer long, kids can bowl two FREE games per day at participating Myrtle Beach bowling alleys as part of an annual Kids Bowl Free program. For a one-time payment, family members can also bowl two games per person per day (details vary by location).
FREE Roller Skating:
Fun Warehouse in Myrtle Beach is participating in a national Kids Skate Free program for kids ages 10 and under.
FREE or Cheap Movies
- Grand 14 Cinema at The Market Common’s Summer Movie Magic program offers FREE kids’ movies every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10 a.m.
- AMC Theatres has a Summer Movie Camp with $4 movies every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
- Every other Wednesday from June 15-August 9, The Market Common is showing FREE movies in Valor Park.
- On select Fridays through September 8, Conway Parks and Recreation will be showing FREE Movies in the Park
- On select Fridays during the summer and fall, the City of North Myrtle Beach will be showing FREE movies at McLean Park.

FREE Summer Camp:
- Bass Pro Shops is holding a FREE Family Summer Camp that includes craft activities, FREE workshops, a catch & release pond, kids’ games, and a FREE family photo. [2018 details pending].
FREE Entertainment:
- Kids’ Carnival: Every Monday night, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is having a FREE Kids’ Carnival.
- SummerFest: Every night June 1-September 3, Barefoot Landing will have FREE kid-friendly entertainment as part of its annual SummerFest celebration.
- Summer Nights Entertainment Series: Broadway at the Beach is offering FREE entertainment for kids every night this summer as part of its annual Summer Nights Entertainment Series.
Water Park Discounts:

Summer Reading Programs:
- Barnes & Noble: Kids who read eight books and submit a Summer Reading Journal can get a FREE book.
- Books-a-Million: Kids who read any four books from the bookstore’s Summer Reading Adventure Section and write about them in their Summer Reading Adventure Notebooks can exchange their completed Notebooks for a FREE pencil case with pencils.
- Chapin Memorial Library: Kids can earn prizes by reading, attending events, and completing special tasks.
- Horry County Library: Kids can win prizes by reading, playing educational games, attending events, and completing special missions.
