Whether or not this deal is “cheap” is a matter of opinion, but I’ve seen a lot of Broadway shows, and the price on this one seems more than reasonable to me.
Theatre of the Republic will be performing Hairspray at Main Street Theatre through September 3, 2011. Tickets are just $18 when you buy them online in advance, $20 at the door (but there’s a $2 surcharge for internet tickets, so it all comes out the same).
Here’s an excerpt about the show from the Theatre of the Republic Web site:
“Loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing, and wins a spot on the local tv dance program, The Corny Collins Show. Overnight, she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the program’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love singing and dancing all the while (of course!) without mussing her hair?”
Main Street Theater is located at 337 Main Street in Conway, South Carolina (just west of Myrtle Beach).
