Several years ago, a mom sent us an email and shared her family Myrtle Beach vacation itinerary. They are frequent vacation visitors to Myrtle Beach and at the time of this writing, she had two teenage boys, ages 14 and 17.
She is not a professional writer nor a “travel expert”. Just a mom who thought she would write about what her family did on their Myrtle Beach vacation, where they ate, and some of the adventures they went on. She hopes this little article will help not only those who are new to Myrtle Beach and what it has to offer, but those who may visit regularly and are looking for different vacation ideas.

This is the last summer my oldest is with us as a “kid”. He graduated high school this past May and leaves Monday for boot camp (Army Reserves to help pay for college) so I decided to pack it in with more stuff than what we generally do. So, here is my take on our week.
Saturday arrived –
Dinner at Riverside Cafe at the hotel. Wait about 15 minutes. Wait much longer after we were finally seated.
Sunday –
Morning–Oceanfront Helicopters for North Beach ride. Alot of fun and I didn’t get motion sickness, so that’s a plus. My 14 yr old wants to do a longer ride next time. Highly recommend.
Evening – Inlet Cottage and Walking Tour – very interesting. We enjoyed it. I’ve been coming here all year round my whole life and never heard some of the stories about Murrell’s Inlet. We enjoyed the stories. Highly recommend
Monday –
My two sons did surf lessons with Native Surf Lessons. My youngest son is more athletic than my oldest, but they both enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend. Native Surf Lessons
Tuesday –
We signed up with Fossils Forever – a shark tooth hunting adventures. This was alot of fun. None of us have ever had luck in finding shark teeth. Everyone found teeth and I found a sting ray barb. Highly recommend.

Lunch – we went to Landshark Bar and Grill at Barefoot Landing. Got there at 11 when they opened, no wait and food was very good. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered.
Dinner– husband and I went to Barons Piano Bar. Both ordered Filet and they were outstanding. Asparagus was great and the mac and cheese was some of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend. No wait.
Wednesday –
We did horseback riding on the beach through Inlet Point Plantation. Highly recommend. Was so peaceful and serene on a open beach with no people around. Outstanding ride.

Dinner
We are a family of 4, but my husband had to leave early so it was me and the boys. My youngest loves sushi. So we did a “learn to make sushi” night with the Gringo Ninja. We also did a taco back up just in case me and my oldest son didn’t like sushi. It was so much fun. We all got into it and learned to make sushi, tried everything we made and had so much fun. I would highly recommend and look forward to seeing what we can do next year. We had leftovers to eat the rest of the week between tacos and sushi.
Thursday –
5 hr Light Tackle Inshore Fishing Charter with Captain Keith through North Myrtle Beach Fishing Charter. The boys loved this. It is right down their alley. We all caught alot of fish. We would use them again. Captain Keith was pretty patient and helped my youngest son alot with pointers and tips.
Friday–
Dinner –
Who knew that you could go to a luau at Myrtle Beach!?
We went to the Fire Luau. The boys were not to sure about this at first. But they really got into the show. My youngest was pulled up on stage with other boys to learn some dance moves. It was alot of fun and would recommend.
We pretty much ate in the room this week except for the couple times we ate out. I did a online order ahead from Lowes Foods and Publix and that worked out fabulously. It costs entirely too much too eat out every meal with a family of 4, so we took advantage of the full kitchen we had.
Over all it was a busy week, but alot of fun. Didn’t do anything that we would not recommend!
Can’t wait till next year!
